Well the first half was the nerd part. My friend had what effectively was a dead Creative Zen Micro that was out of warranty. After I’d found out that the Zen Micro actually had a Microdrive and not flash memory and knowing about the drive swapping that could be done on the Muvo2, it seemed a lot more promising that it could be resurrected to see another day (and to play more music!).
So a google was called for to arm myself with whatever I could find about dismantling the player. For any would be dismantlers, this and this are the two best ones on working out how to get the thing apart… (strange that the HardwareZone site didn’t want to display me pictures at my home yesterday but it works fine today???). Armed with print-outs, compactflash cards, screwdrivers and whatever other paraphernalia that I may need I went over and we proceeded to take apart the player.
About an hour or so later (due to me putting in the compactflash card the correct way, thinking it was the wrong way and swapping it round, then realising it was correct the first time) we had a fully functional mp3 player. So yep if anyone’s wondering it’s definatley possible to replace the microdrive with a compactflash card – just that the players a pain to get apart and put back together again.
After that it was watching season 2 Grey’s eps. Seemed so long ago that I’d seen them, I’d forgotten some of the awesomely funny lines that the show had. Anyways that’s it, have a happy new year, and here’s to hoping the weather holds out tomorrow night!
In 2007 ‘UGLY can be beautiful’ according to the Be Ugly campaign which of course features good ole’ Betty in her awesomely [ugly] outfits. But on my quoted bit, I find it kind of funny, because of the ‘can’…. if ugly *can* be beautiful, doesn’t that mean that ugly can mean ugly?
Either way… be ugly, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year enjoy the silly season whilst it lasts…
And what better way to spend it than hanging with your friends? Other than that it’s the usual silly season which this year is being held at my house. I think I’m somewhat averse to the whole festive season. Having been away the last 2 has quite possibly made me the grinch who does not get overly excited at bright happy flashing christmas lights. Still there’s always next year to work on being less cynical when it comes to lights… (I’m working on it…)
This 4 day break is like wonder for me… well not literally. It’s like my longest non-working period since like Feb. Yep I’m working those 3 days in between. Don’t really mind it though. There’s work to do and it’ll be quiet so less interruptions/distractions/etc. That said, I do miss being a uni student… if I was still one… who knows where I would’ve been now… probably some other random country…
Well i looked on the web to see if the bookstore even had it cos i couldn’t find it and it said they did. So rang them up and they had one copy. Picked it up after work and now am sitting here wasting time reading away.
I made a postcard once. I found it on my computer the other month. I think id be freaked to send it. Not that it is really anything exciting or momentous.
Maybe im just all dark and twisty inside.
Since I last posted. What’s happened since then? Hmm camping/caving, a 10 year primary school reunion a day at the beach with lots of sand, staff end of year thingo… looks like another year has just gone by.
Other than that, looks like Australia’s just caught onto the awesomeness that is PostSecret (otherwise known as one of my things I semi plug along with Improv Everywhere, Snow Patrol and Stereophonics… lol). But seriously, the price their stating down the end of the article is overpriced… hit Kinokuniya in the city if you want it. They were the only bookstore in like the whole of Sydney who actually were useful when I was trying to buy the book way back earlier in the year. So yeah by the import version ‘cos it’s cheaper.
Anyways hope tomorrow’s weather is cooler… off to bed now………
